Water Heater
While in Dedza hiking a couple weekends ago we stayed at a small hotel that heated their water thus:

reminds me of the showers in Brazil. no hot water heaters, but small electric heaters in the shower head itself heated the water as it came out. I received more than one shock from these while bathing...i really appreciate a nice warm shower on a cold morning!

Yeah, point of use water heating. My aunt and uncle in North Carolina installed one of those systems in their home... probably with a bit tighter regulations than the shockers in Brazil. I like the idea because you spend all the energy heating only water you are using rather than having a big tank that sits there all day not being used just wasting away heating power.
